“The Daisy” is the Latest Movie by Pupi Avati

Finally I saw it, I chased it for weeks on those websites where you can watch movies online but last night I did and I liked it a lot! The latest movie by Italian director Pupi Avati is set in the fifties, and it’s featured by a narrative voice off by the young character named Thaddeus. Through his stories we explore the exclusive club of “The Daisy”, a place where you can meet your love every night.

The plot also tells the story of a group of workers that suddenly lose their job. In a single night, without warning, the company owner was moving money and business on the opposite side of the globe. The workers, after decades of work and loyalty, received just 2000 dollars. With that money the workers hire a killer to punish their former boss, killing him. The movie is directed by Benoit Delepine (The director of “The Devil Wears Prada” ) and Gustave Kervern and is produced by Mathieu Kassovitz. You have to know, by the way, that this Avati’s movie is a remake of a French film.

Tron Legacy is Worthless or Not?

Let’s say that we can distinguish between two categories of viewers: those who have seen (and remember) the first Tron and those who had not seen the first version. People who have bought the first “Tron” dvd but not the “Tron Legacy” one is used to watch free movies online before buying a DVD. Let’s start with the latter, I think they found a very mediocre product, where the 3D is excellent in the scenes of pure computer graphics, but it sucks in those in which actors are shot in the flesh. In fact, this part of the “natural” was not shot in 3D, with punches appearing flat and completely unrelated to the scene.

The acting is not bad, but not particularly brilliant, except for the character of Zuse, modeled on David Bowie. On the other hand the amount of light given by the special effects are truly amazing, and is perhaps the only thing worth mentioning for a job otherwise just mediocre.

It’s a different story for those who, like me, still have vivid memories and emotions aroused by the first Tron, a masterpiece of animation and imagination when it was released in theaters, two decades ago. For us “old” science fiction movie, this version of Tron is totally worthless.
